"What's my line ?
Poet,
What's your Line?
Pick one!"
There are so many lines
that we have to endure
at stoplights, in checkouts
keep Airlines secure
On highways they’ve closed
as we wait for detours
At stadiums, concerts
and theatres too
Where sweet music cures
We wait in line
for our tickets
and in lines to get through.
From our first day of school
when it comes recess time
or a chance to eat lunch
we all wait in a line.
even our notebook paper
has lines that we must fill
and they’re graded with letters
that judge all our skills
As we age we all wait
for those lines on our face
then we frown in our mirrors
at what we can't erase
Even finding love comes
with need for clever lines
Just to pick up a girl
and if they’re bad, she’ll decline
Both funerals and weddings
all have receiving lines
to greet new loves
or comfort folks in
their saddest times
We spend years of our lives
waiting in some large herd
of folks trying to get somewhere
all these lines are "absurd."
If your buying a house
and your needs are allotted
by a realtors help
you sign lines that are dotted.
And when your life
starts to fade
and you’ve run out of time
you be bed bound and stuck
with a sharp I.V. Line.
And if that doesn’t save you
then a huge line of cars
will follow your hearse
when you no longer are.
when you no longer are..........
Bound for neat
lines of headstones
in long, tidy rows
and there’ll be
no more lines
here on earth,
but you know...
There are endless lines waiting
to reach Hell as the demons
prod and torture the newbie’s
setting everyone screaming!!
And outside Heaven’s Gate
lines of souls stretch for miles
Just to finally see God’s smile
you’ll be waiting a while.
you'll be waiting a while!
There are so many more lines
that this song can’t cover
when one ends then you realize
you’re right back in another
So tap your toes gently
Just be patient and Kind
you are here for one reason
to be standing in line
