Speakers, coaches, and consultants often waste energy creating more content than they need to generate sales.

Imagine you wanted to boil a pot of water to make pasta. It takes 212° Fahrenheit or 100° Celsius to boil water. Anything above that boiling point is wasted energy.

Now, you may be tempted to say, “Well, what if we used a flamethrower that’s a thousand degrees. That will make the water boil faster!”

That’s a huge mistake. Using that much heat will actually cause the water to evaporate and we won’t have any water to make our pasta. In fact, that much heat would be so oppressive that no one will want to stay close to what we’re cooking up.

It’s easy to laugh at that word picture, but that’s the reality many thought leaders like yourself are facing when it comes to creating content. Releasing so much content in a short period of time can cause information overwhelm for your audience.

That’s why I recommend focusing on how to create your MVC: Minimum Viable Content. What’s the exact amount of content you need to create to best market your business?

A good next step is taking an audit of all the pieces of content you’re creating on a regular basis. Ask yourself: is this content actually contributing to the overall impact our brand has on our target Market?
