When creativity and faith meet!

(Mark 2:1-12 NLT)

When Jesus returned to Capernaum several days later, the news spread quickly that he was back home. (2) Soon the house where he was staying was so packed with visitors that there was no more room, even outside the door. While he was preaching God’s word to them, (3) four men arrived carrying a paralyzed man on a mat. (4) They couldn’t bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, so they dug a hole through the roof above his head. Then they lowered the man on his mat, right down in front of Jesus. (5) Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “My child, your sins are forgiven.” (6) But some of the teachers of religious law who were sitting there thought to themselves, (7) “What is he saying? This is blasphemy! Only God can forgive sins!” (8) Jesus knew immediately what they were thinking, so he asked them, “Why do you question this in your hearts? (9) Is it easier to say to the paralyzed man ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or ‘Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk’?(10) So I will prove to you that the Son of Man has the authority on earth to forgive sins.” Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, (11) “Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!” (12) And the man jumped up, grabbed his mat, and walked out through the stunned onlookers. They were all amazed and praised God, exclaiming, “We’ve never seen anything like this before!”

数日後、イエスはカペナウムに戻られました。すると、イエス来訪のニュースはたちまち町中に伝わり、 (2) 人々が大ぜい集まって来ました。家は足の踏み場もないほどで、外まで人があふれています。その人たちに、イエスは神の教えを語られました。 (3) その時、四人の人が、中風（脳出血などによる半身不随、手足のまひ等の症状）の男をかついで運んで来ました。 (4) しかしあまりの人に、群衆をかき分けて中へ入ることもできません。そこで、屋根にのぼり、穴をあけると、そこから病人を寝床のまま、イエスの前へつり降ろしました。 (5) 必ず治してもらえると、堅く信じて疑わない彼らの信仰をごらんになって、イエスは中風の男に、「あなたの罪は赦されました」と言われました。(6) ところが、その場にいた何人かのユダヤ人の宗教的指導者たちの心中は、おだやかではありませんでした。 (7)「なんだと！　今のは神を汚すことばだ。いったい自分をだれだと思っているのか。罪を赦すなんて、神にしかできないことなのに。」 (8) イエスはすぐに、彼らが心の中で理屈をこねているのを見抜かれました。「どうして、そう思うのですか。 (9-11) この人に、『あなたの罪が赦されました』と言うのと、『起きて歩きなさい』と言うのと、どちらがやさしいですか。さあ、メシヤ（ヘブル語で、救い主）のわたしが罪を赦したという証拠を見せてあげましょう。」イエスは中風の男のほうに向き直り、「あなたはもうよくなりました。床をたたんで、家に帰りなさい」と言われました。 (12) すると男は飛び起き、寝床をかかえ、あっけにとられている見物人を押し分けて、出て行ってしまいました。「こんなことは、見たこともない！」人々は口々に叫び、心から神を賛美しました。
