Glenda Richardson (00:00): And then my final piece here is called "When Destiny Smiles." It is another example of showing an individual in a state of a particular state, and she's in a state of joy. I met her boyfriend at MICA. He was a student and he showed me a picture of her. This was the picture, and I said, "I've got to make a piece out of that."
(00:37): It is the shift of the shoulders, a throwback head, a smile, and then all this wavy stuff going on around her. It is just an expression of pure joy. Also, she has a gap tooth, which I put in there, which I think is beautiful. I called it "When Destiny Smiles," because for one thing, her name really is Destiny, and that's what most people would like, for destiny to smile upon you.
