When English count their chickens French sell the skin of the bear

Listen Later

One of the beauty of the French language is definitely its profusion of quirky, funny, poetic expressions... and I know it does not always make sense when translated into English leaving often French culture/language lovers completely flabbergasted... but isn't it part of the charm of the journey afterall?! Oui, oui, bien entendu ! In this episode, I will talk about a popular french expression "il ne faut pas vendre la peau de l'ours avant de l'avoir tué" which basically translates as "One should not sell the skin of the bear before it has been killed"... but what can it possibly mean!? Well that is today's podcast's topic and as a bear is involved I will take the opportunity of today's episode to talk about feminine and masculine, animals genders in french and a few funny other things :)
