When Healing Becomes a Habit: Breaking My Self-Help Addiction

Listen Later

In this episode, I open up about my self-help addiction: constantly consuming, striving, fixing, and proving in an endless effort to become “better.” For years, I treated myself like a project. And if I wasn’t improving, I felt like I was failing.Growing up as a ballet dancer and in an Asian household, perfection was the standard. Logic, stability, and following the “right path” were praised. Showing up as I was? Being imperfect? That didn’t feel safe. But chasing perfection comes with a cost: it becomes harder to be seen. To be fully human. To believe that who you are right now — without optimizing, without a 5-year plan, without a checklist — is enough. This is a conversation about slowing down. About letting go of the pressure to constantly heal. About trusting the version of you who exists right now.I hope this episode reminds you that you are not a project — you are a person. And you deserve to live your life, not just constantly improve it. 🍵✨ PS: I know this topic is vulnerable — so thank you for being here with me through every messy part of becoming.⏩ Fast forward to the 30-second mark to skip the intro.
