What does it mean to step away?
Taking a temporary break from parties, events, munches, cons, D/s dynamics, topping, bottoming, and/or other lifestyle-related activities.
Stepping away is not to be confused with walking away. Walking away means that it isn’t a break, it is a decision to permanently leave.
Why would someone need to step away?
In general, it is best to follow the “Life before Lifestyle” rule but here are some specific reasons we can think of the people have, including ourselves, have given:
- Marital/Relationship problems
- Work
- Stress
- Frenzy
- Issues within the community
- Drama
- Abuse
- Dealing with recent or previous trauma or abuse
- Death of a loved one
- Boredom
- Accidental injury of a partner
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Burnout
How to help prevent the need to step away:
- Develop a support system
- Take time to learn about frenzy
