In Luke 4:16-30, Jesus begins His public ministry by proclaiming that He is the fulfillment of the Scriptures, announcing good news to the poor, freedom for the oppressed, and the year of the Lord’s favor. While His message is one of grace and salvation, the people of Nazareth, who expected a Messiah to meet their own desires, reject Him in unbelief. The law exposes their hardened hearts, but the gospel reveals Christ’s gracious mission to bring liberation and salvation to all, even those outside Israel, as He calls us to trust in Him alone for deliverance.
