When Jesus Speaks Your Name

Listen Later

Main Points 1. Jesus calls His people by name. 2. Jesus sends His people to tell others. The resurrection of Jesus is not merely a historical event but a personal encounter that transforms lives, as demonstrated in Mary Magdalene's encounter at the tomb. Jesus, the risen King, calls His followers by name—recognizing their grief, their identity, and their deepest longings—revealing His intimate knowledge and love. In response to her sorrow, He does not merely appear but speaks her name, awakening faith and recognition in her heart, leading her to declare Him 'Rabboni,' a term of profound reverence. He then commissions her not to cling to Him, but to go and proclaim the good news: that He is ascending to His Father, who is now also their Father, and that He will send the Holy Spirit to dwell within them. This moment marks a radical shift from mourning to mission, as a broken woman with a painful past becomes the first witness to the resurrection and the first to share the life-giving message of salvation. The sermon underscores that belief is not only a matter of sight but of hearing the voice of Christ, responding in faith, and being sent to tell others, especially those who have not yet believed, that the risen Savior is near and ready to save.
