"Not all pain shows up on a scan,
but it still lives in the body
until we help it move."

Pain, what Is Real Pain? I’m not talking about the kind of pain caused by a cut, a broken bone, or a failing organ. Not the pain that shows up on an X-ray, an MRI, or gets diagnosed in a sterile exam room or the ER.
The pain I’m talking about can’t be stitched up, prescribed away, surgically removed or transplanted. And believe me, it can definitely be felt.
This is neurological pain, emotional, physiological, and deeply real.
· It’s the sharp ache in your heart after losing someone you love.
· It’s the heavy weight you feel on your chest resulting after shame / pain from the past or fear / worry about the future.
· It’s the electrifying sensations you feel when you sense intrusiveness from someone close to you
· It’s the gut punch in your stomach when you perceive being neglected or rejected
· It’s the heaviness of a weighted blanket resulting from sadness and grief.
· It’s the internal fire of anger or rage when you’ve been betrayed by someone you felt safety, certainty and trust with.
These pains all have one thing in common: They are neurologically formed and emotionally felt.
At a fundamental level, the human system is 100% energy, because atoms, which make up all matter, are bound by energetic forces. Your physical body is, in essence, stored energy.
The phrase "emotions are energy in motion" popularized by John Bradshaw beautifully reflects this truth. So if we are 100% energy, and emotions are energy in motion… why do painful emotions often stay stuck in our body?
In the world of Neurological Intelligence (NI), we believe that you can’t skip over emotions. You can’t get under them, around them, or outthink them. The only way is through.
That doesn’t mean you sit in pain forever. It means you give yourself the time, support, and strategy to move through the pain, mindfully, somatically, with intention and always with loving kindness.
Our nervous systems are like supercomputers. Each person needs a unique code, flexible, adaptive, and responsive to the specific way their inner world is wired.
· There is no "one-size-fits-all" approach in NI.
· There is no rigid formula or perfect sequence.
· Because we never truly know the impact a neurological experience has had on someone’s internal landscape.
When we avoid, suppress or disassociate from neurological or emotional pain, it doesn’t disappear, it often leaks out sideways:
· In reactivity,
· In projection,
· In behavior that resembles a child or even a threatened reptile.
That’s why the first step in any NI strategy for neurological healing is always the same: pause and breath. When you pause, your breath can become your lifeline. It’s the one tool that can immediately influence the movement of energy in your body.
With strategic, mindful pausing and breathing, we begin to transfer, transform, or release the energy, rather than staying trapped in it.
Neurological and emotional pain is like smoke in a sealed room, it lingers, thickens, and suffocates until you crack open a window and let it flow out with intention. So, what’s one emotional experience that’s lingered in your body and what might shift if you gave it permission to move through you instead of staying stuck within you?
