Listen Later

The fourth temptation sons face does not always arrive dressed as the enemy. Sometimes it speaks from the pulpit.

This is part six of the Temptations of Sons series, entering the fourth temptation: the Cloud of Glory. The teaching works through a single, uncomfortable theological argument. Because someone spoke rightly yesterday does not guarantee they are speaking rightly today. Using Peter as the central case, the teaching shows how the same mouth that confessed Christ as Son of God became the instrument through which the devil spoke minutes later. From there, the argument widens. Noah, Moses, Elijah, Abraham, Paul, Barnabas, the Baptist himself. Scripture does not sanitize these men. It documents their failures with precision, and the point is not humility for humility's sake. The point is that what defined any of them was never their anointing or their office. It was Christ. No one holds senior Holy Spirit. No one carries a partial Eternity that is less than Eternity. Sonship is democratized, and that reality dismantles every structure of spiritual hierarchy used to keep sons looking at a man instead of at Jesus.

SCRIPTURE: Matthew 3:16-17, Matthew 16:16-23, Galatians 2:11-14, Acts 21:10-14

SERIES: Temptations of Sons. A multi-part series examining the specific pressures sons face, not from the world outside but from within the structures and relationships meant to serve their formation in Christ.
