One big question I'd always ask the big guys tat trained at my gym was, "so how many reps and sets do you guys do to get big like that?" This was a question I'd ask alot because I felt like I was doing this whole fitness thing all wrong. After years of trial and errors, I learned about growth adaptation. This is more of a focus on the feeling within your set than just simple numbers. After using this technique, my PRs jumped, I gained more muscle, and overall I felt better.
