When the Heart Says “There Is No God”

“The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’ They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.” - Psalm 14:1.

Sometimes the “fool” isn’t the person who openly denies that God exists. It’s the one who lives as if He doesn’t. It’s the young person who knows the truth but ignores the voice of the Spirit. It’s the one who keeps doing wrong even while knowing it’s wrong. It’s whoever acts as though God doesn’t see, doesn’t care, or has forgotten.

Psalm 14 paints a picture of a world drowning in moral and spiritual decay — people who’ve lost all sense of goodness, justice, and purity. And the shocking truth is that it’s not just unbelievers who fit that description. It’s anyone who knows who God is but refuses to live like it matters.

Paul echoes this in Romans 3: “There is no one righteous, not even one.” That’s not pessimism — it’s diagnosis. It’s the realization that without God, every human heart is sick. Sin is the virus that dulls the conscience, blinds the mind, and hardens the soul.

Think for a moment: what has your heart been saying when no one’s watching? Could it be that, through your choices, your actions, your silence, you’ve been saying, “There is no God”?

When you choose what’s wrong, when you ignore what the Spirit whispers, when you follow what the world celebrates — it’s like saying, “God doesn’t rule me. I know what’s best.”

But there’s hope. The same God who looks down and sees corruption also sees the sincere desire to change. He’s not looking for perfection — He’s looking for a willing heart. And when someone finally says, “Lord, I need You,” He turns the fool into the wise, emptiness into purpose, and sin into forgiveness.

Today, God is calling you not to be another “fool” who lives as if He doesn’t exist. He wants to reign in your heart — not just in your words. Surrender control, admit your need, and let Him show you what real life is.

Because true wisdom begins when your heart decides to believe — and obey.
