Sharing my experiences after having Covid for the holidays. Life seemed to get really hard, really fast and I got really scared that I would never be the same again. I’m slowly starting to get back to myself- just kidding this feels nothing like my old self. Being sick these past couple of weeks has forced me to shed all kinds of parts of myself. This feels like stepping into the unknown and meeting a new version of myself for the very first time. But that’s typical for most of us right..
The first few weeks of January are usually spent tending to the newness of ourselves. A honing in on desired change with grand visions of who we want to become. While the thoughts of change may feel exciting, I am writing you today to share a powerful lesson I have learned in this past year.
It has certainly helped me stay grounded amidst the inclination to charge forward. The lesson is these three words paired together ...
Slow is fast. Less is more.
A mind blowing, singular breakthrough is not what changes your life. A micro-shift is. The small baby steps that we make, often lead to B I G changes.
If we aim to do too much too fast we may overload our system, send ourselves into overwhelm and then sum it up to a thought like 'good things are possible for others, but not for me'. And just simply give the fuck up.
This is not true. The key to sustainable change is to move at a pace that feels safe enough to feel discomfort followed by windows of rest and recovery. In essence, start slow. Honor yourself. Honor the YES’s. Honor the No’s. Take deep breaths. Notice how much feels like too much. Acknowledge the little wins. Build over time. Take baby steps. Listen & honor your body
This is how great change can come with a sense of ease when life feels like The Universe threw you a curve ball.
