Living Biblically

When The World Falls Flat

Listen Later

How can we prioritize our relationship with God and nurture it through His Word amidst the busyness, distractions, and challenges of life?

Josh Buice highlights the value and significance of the Word of God, emphasizing that it is a treasure for believers. It is not just a collection of 66 books written by various authors over centuries but a unified story of God and His gospel. The Word of God serves the purpose of bringing glory to God. However, there are times when the busyness, responsibilities, and difficulties of life can cause us to become less passionate about the Word than before.

In order to persevere and overcome these obstacles, Buice shares the wisdom of giving our mornings to God, prioritizing our time with Him before engaging with distractions like social media or other responsibilities. By committing ourselves to this pattern of dedicating the beginning of each day to God, we can nurture our relationship with Him and prioritize His Word.

The prevalent use of technology and the habitual checking of social media can easily consume our time and distract us from spending meaningful time with God. Buice acknowledges the benefits of technology but also warns about its potential for abuse. Statistics show that many people look at their phones and social media notifications as the first thing in the morning, often wasting hours and missing out on precious opportunities to commune with God. By consciously choosing to give our mornings to God before engaging with technology or other worldly demands, we create space to connect with Him through His Word and foster a deeper relationship with Him.

Psalm 119:105 (NKJV) beautifully captures the significance of God's Word in guiding our lives: "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
