The Amanda Ferguson Show

When Things Seem To Get Worse Than Better

Listen Later

As a Christian, have you ever felt ashamed for wanting to see a therapist?

You are not the only one! In this episode, I will share my experience of attending therapies to deal with my inner pain.

Many times we think that because we are Christian individuals or Public Figures,  it is not right to want to seek a therapist. It is time to change that mentality and to take care of our emotional health. Many of you have been hurt emotionally and physically by people. Remember that you must give a voice to your pain!

There are internal wounds and traumatic events that you have been dealing with for years. You can’t pretend that it is in the past and you have moved on when in reality it still hurts when it comes to mind. You need to let God heal your heart by allowing pain to resurface and have the courage to confront it.

One of the most beautiful things that we have experienced as a married couple while attending Christian therapy has been the level of closeness within our marriage.  See my husband hesitated to the idea of joining me for therapy. However, we were able to enter into a new level of intimacy.

Powerful tips when attending therapy as a married couple:

[04:30] You must let the pain come out. If you submerge pain for a while, it can come out like a flow.

[16:06] There is a level of intimacy and vulnerability in the marriage.

[17:15] Perfect love without judgment will emerge. Keep in mind that you can’t judge each other for the way of processing pain.

[22:04] Things become healed when you allow it to come to the surface. You must have the courage to confront and the courage to push through.
