How well do you understand your organization's supply chain structure? 

You’re likely familiar with your “first-tier” suppliers. You’ve probably got legal contracts, or even a physical relationship in place with them.

But how familiar are you with those suppliers down the chain? What at Interos, we like to call the “N-th tier suppliers.” 

The less you focus on understanding them, the more you get lulled into a false sense of security in thinking that you’ve got your supply chain security figured out, integrated, and fully understood. 

And frankly, at least according to our most recent podcast guest, Mark Weatherford, most organizations do a very poor job of understanding even their first-tier suppliers, let alone those n-th tier ones.
