In network marketing, our business is based on building relationships with people. So initiating and maintaining conversations are part of our routines. And one of the challenges that we face as direct sellers is explaining what we do in a small interaction. We have a different business model so it can be challenging to convey why we do what we do. The concept that we sell other people's products while still owning our business and building our brand can be difficult to understand for others. That's why we say "I am 'partnered' with this company" and not "I work for this company."
