When Truth Finds You
“O sons of men, how long will you turn my glory into shame? How long will you love vanity and seek after lies?” - Psalm 4:2.
There are moments when God doesn’t speak softly — He speaks firmly. This is one of those moments. “How long?” He asks. It’s as if David were saying, “How long will you mock what is holy? How long will you love what’s worthless and chase after illusions?”
It sounds like this verse was written for our generation. We live in a time when vanity has become a goal, and lies — well, they’ve become tools. Social media is filled with “perfect lives,” and we compare ourselves, wear ourselves out, and without realizing it, we trade the glory God wants to give us — identity, purpose, peace — for an image that fades.
David was speaking to his enemies, but the message crosses time and lands right here, with us. How many times has God tried to reach you, but your attention was somewhere else? How many times has He tried to show you what truly matters, but you’ve chosen the glitter that deceives?
The rebels who rose up against David believed a false promise — that they could find happiness apart from God’s will. In the end, everything collapsed. And the same happens when we try to build our lives on vanity and lies.
Today, God asks you the same question: “How long?”
How long will you trade the eternal for the temporary?
How long will you abandon what gives life, just to chase what drains you?
The time to change is now — not tomorrow, not “when things get better.” Now.
God is still willing to restore your glory, rewrite your story, and give you back what the world tried to steal: your worth in His eyes.
If you hear His voice today, don’t harden your heart. God isn’t calling you to shame you — He’s calling to raise you up. Give Him your lies, your vanity, your running away… and let Truth find you.
