Perhaps we need to teach our children not to hate anything. Dislike? Okay. Disapprove? Sure. Reject? Absolutely. But not hate. Because hate invariably leads to violence, either at at emotionally abusive level or at a physically abusive level. Hate doesn't seem to tolerate differences. Hate doesn't seem willing to negotiate or compromise. Hate is just an extreme position, usually based more upon fear than fact, that imbalances us and leads to reckless, impulsive, short-sighted behaviors that are rarely long-term solutions.
