Our outlook on life determines how we face challenges. Right now, we are all facing this pandemic. Some people are pessimistic while others are really optimistic. You can choose to do something you’ve always wanted now with this time. Even when the challenges seem big, with businesses closing and sheltering in place, there is much to be optimistic about.
Whereas a pessimist may hide behind the fact that they are being realistic about a situation, sometimes they are just quick to see the problem while an optimist is quick to see the possibilities. It doesn’t mean they are out of touch with reality. Science has proven that optimists have better health, better relationships, and avoid/come out of depression quicker than pessimists.
There are three things that make you a pessimist. Thinking that the challenge you are facing is:
Permanent means seeing difficulties will always be there. Pervasive means that the problem is everywhere and personal means that you view it as solely your fault.
