Where are the free range kids in Utah?

Listen Later

Did you know Utah has special laws that protect free range parenting?

Senate Bill (SB) 0065 -- defines child neglect in a way that protects parents who allow their children to engage in independent activities:

- Walking, running, or bicycling to and from school

- Traveling to and from nearby commercial or recreational facilities

- Engaging in outdoor play

The law was a response to the "free-range kids" movement, which was launched by Lenore Skenazy after she let her 9-year-old son ride the subway home alone.
