This week, we ask the question: “Where are we going?”. The “we” in the question refers in general to the country, but in particular to Black Americans. Over the last week, we’ve seen several people ranging from Luvvie Ajayi to Dez Bryant to Gilbert Arenas speak on various aspects of their disdain for Black American’s characteristics. Whether it’s Gilbert Arenas’ preference for lighter shade black women or Dez Bryant’s irritation with our lack of “trying” and blaming that on racism, we noticed how east it is to hear these statements and totally disregard them because we don’t agree. We felt it was (is) important to dig a bit deeper to create a dialogue around the issues they raised (even if we think they’re idiots).
