When does applying a bit of creative license turn into defrauding your audience? And does it matter? Answer: YES.
Adding dramatic details to your stories is all part of painting a more engaging picture for your audience. As is creating an imaginary scenario to help your customers see what working with you or using your product could look and feel like for them, providing it's clear it's fictional.
But fabricating and presenting it as real is a different matter and puts your relationships with your audience at high risk.
I'm all for spinning a little yarn to make an already memorable story stick in your audience's head but making something up entirely. It's just not worth it.
