🌿Before we continue down the road to Prison: Part 2, we need to stop for a moment.

Usually, I would say, “Let’s take a walk. "But not today.

Today, we’re going to sit with her.

The woman who never got the chance to become.

There is a grief we don’t talk about very often—the grief of realizing that while the years were passing, survival was living parts of our lives for us.

What happens when you look back and realize you’re not only grieving what happened to you… you’re grieving the person you might have become if you had been given the chance?

This is not Prison: Part 2.This is the space between.

A pause.

An acknowledgment.

A goodbye.

The gates closed behind me, and a new chapter of my life began.

This wasn't just my first day in prison—it was the beginning of serving sixteen years and facing a journey no one else could walk for me.

For the first time in my life, there was nowhere left to run. No distractions. No escaping the choices I had made or the pain I had carried for so long. It was just me, my past, and the long road that stretched out before me.

As I lay on my bunk that first night, memories of my life surrounded me, and I realized that everyone I loved had one thing in common: none of them could walk this road for me.

🌿As a little girl, I believed in fairy tales.

I dreamed of love, a family, a little house with a white picket fence, and happily ever after.

But trauma has a way of rewriting the stories we tell ourselves.

In this episode, I share how childhood wounds shaped what I believed love was—and how healing began when I stopped chasing a fairy tale that was never mine to live.Every little girl deserves a fairy tale.

Mine wasn't stolen overnight... it disappeared one wound at a time.

I thought I was trying to get away from the little girl, The truth was, I was trying to get away from what happened to her. That realization changed the way I saw my past...And maybe it will change the way you see yours.

In this episode, I share how compassion began replacing shame and why the little girl I once wanted to hide became the reminder that healing doesn't replace our story- it redeems it.

It's when the little girl stop being a reminder of pain and became a reminder of survival.

Children don't process trauma the way adults do.

When life keeps hurting them, they don't ask, "Why is this happening?" They ask, "What did I do wrong?"

By the time I was diagnosed with leukemia, I had already survived years of sexual abuse and physical beatings.

Somewhere along the way, I came to believe that everything bad happening to me was punishment.

So when I heard the word leukemia, I didn't just hear a diagnosis.

I heard confirmation.

I believed God was punishing me.

For three years, I endured chemotherapy, hospital rooms, endless needles, and the uncertainty of whether tomorrow would ever come. But the greatest battle wasn't the one taking place inside my body.

It was the one taking place inside my mind.

⚡🌳🌹 As a child, there was one tree in the orchard I never forgot.

It had been struck by lightning. Damaged, yet still standing among the other trees.

For years I wondered why I was drawn to that tree and what it was trying to teach me.
