Daniel Cornelius Robinson, a 24-year-old geologist, was last seen on June 23, 2021, leaving a remote job site in Buckeye, Arizona. He was working for Matrix New World, an engineering company, in the vicinity of Sun Valley Parkway and Cactus Road. A coworker, whom he had met for the first time that day, reported that Robinson was acting strangely before he drove his 2017 blue-grey Jeep Renegade west into the desert. Robinson's father reported him missing that evening. Daniel is a Black man, 5'8" tall and weighing 165 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was born with a partial right arm and is missing his right hand.Nearly a month after his disappearance, on July 19, 2021, a local rancher discovered Robinson's Jeep Renegade in a ravine approximately three to four miles from the job site. The vehicle was found on its side with the airbags deployed, and evidence suggested the driver had been wearing a seatbelt. Robinson's personal belongings, including his cell phone, wallet, keys, and clothing, were found at the scene. Despite extensive searches of the area covering over 70 square miles by the Buckeye Police Department and other agencies, utilizing K-9 units, drones, and helicopters, Robinson has not been located. During the searches for Robinson, the remains of other individuals have been discovered, but none have been identified as his.The investigation into Robinson's disappearance has been complex. The Buckeye Police Department has stated that at this time, foul play is not suspected. However, Robinson's family has hired a private investigator who has raised questions about the official findings. The family's investigator suggests the crash scene may have been staged, citing data from the vehicle's black box that indicates the ignition was turned on 46 times after the airbags deployed and that the vehicle traveled an additional 11 miles after the crash. The family also points to red paint transfer on the Jeep as evidence of a potential prior collision. Furthermore, there have been reports of someone entering Robinson's apartment in Tempe after his disappearance and accessing his computer. The case has drawn significant attention, with Daniel's father, David Robinson, tirelessly leading search efforts and advocating for his son.
