’WHERE LIFE BEGINS’

LIFE BEGINS WHEN WE ANSWER TWO QUESTIONS:

…I was at the fortress of Susa…I asked…about how things were going in Jerusalem. They said to me, "Things are not going well…They are in great trouble and disgrace…" Nehemiah 1:1-3

WHO AM I?

…In those days I was the king's cup-bearer. Nehemiah 1:11

WHAT BREAKS MY HEART?

“When I heard this, I sat down and wept. In fact, for days I mourned, fasted, and prayed to the God of heaven.” Nehemiah 1:4

NEXT…CULTIVATE CONVICTION

TIME

…Early the following spring… Nehemiah 1:4

GOD’S WORK IN YOU IS THE FOUNDATION FOR GOD’S WORK THROUGH YOU

…listen to my prayer…I confess…We have sinned terribly… Nehemiah 1:6-7

GOD’S WORD

“Please remember what you told your servant Moses…‘if you return…and obey…I will bring you back to the place I have chosen for my name to be honored.’” Nehemiah 1:8-9

FAVOR: DON’T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT

FAVOR COMES FROM GOD

“O Lord, please hear my prayer!…Please grant me success today by making the king favorable to me... Nehemiah 1:11

WHEN GOD OPENS A DOOR…BE READY

So the king asked me, “Why are you looking so sad?...” Then I was terrified, but I replied… Nehemiah 2:2-3

GIVE GOD THE CREDIT

…And the king granted these requests, because the gracious hand of God was on me. Nehemiah 2:8

WHEN THINGS GET REAL

PLAN IN PRIVATE

So I arrived in Jerusalem. Three days later, I slipped out during the night, taking only a few others with me. I had not told anyone about the plans God had put in my heart for Jerusalem. Nehemiah 2:11-12

COURAGEOUSLY CAST VISION

But now I said to them, “You know very well what trouble we are in…Let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem and end this disgrace!” Then I told them about how the gracious hand of God had been on me…They replied at once, “Yes, let's rebuild the wall!” So they began the good work. Nehemiah 2:17-18

EMBRACE THE COST OF YOUR MISSION

But when Sanballat, Tobiah…they scoffed contemptuously. Nehemiah 2:19

REMEMBER THE MISSION IS ALWAYS ABOUT PEOPLE

…repaired the wall. Each one repaired the section immediately across from his own house. Nehemiah 3:28

YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT GOD IS UP TO…
