Jeremiah, the weeping prophet, is considered by most to be the author of the woeful yet poetic book of Lamentations. After all, it follows the book that bears the prophet's name. Jeremiah likely penned those words with falling tears as he witnessed Jerusalem being crushed by the Babylonians and its temple laid in ruins--a dark and tragic time for God's people. But still today Lamentations 3:22-23 rings out loud and clear and true for the people of God--in times of turbulence and trial, in times of worry and woe, in times of pain and even in times of peace. It goes like this: "The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness." (ESV) But then it behooves us to ask: Where did God's steadfast love and endless mercies shine their brightest? Where did they reach zenith, their pinnacle, their apex?
