On the eve of the 23rd Conference of the Parties (COP-23) under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (November 6 to 17, in Bonn), CGEP hosted a panel discussion on the future of international climate negotiations. What are the stakes for the United States and other parties at COP-23 and in the broader UNFCCC negotiations? Can the other parties sustain momentum in the wake of the announcement by President Trump that the United States intends to withdraw from the Paris climate accord? In what ways could the US announcement affect the UNFCCC process going forward?
