"For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”
Matthew 18:20
One of the misused verses in all the bible
You’ve likely heard this verse quoted a few times during bible studies, church services, prayers, or church meetings. Where two or more are gathered is most commonly quoted to give legitimacy to assembling separate from a congregation. Meaning that even though there might only be a few people gathered God is still with them.
But does that ignore the context in which this verse is written?
