Which road are you on? Matt 7:13-1413 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.They say “every road leads to somewhere” and that’s true. Every road is going to somewhereWe use our GPS a lot- many people are too dependent on it- we’ve been lead astray by itWe spend a lot of time planning our trips, staying away from traffic, cops, etc. First road trip- friend gave me a paper map-ended up needing it in the middle of nevadado you think about the spiritual road you’re on? How often are you calibrating that?Jesus is using a road analogy here with his disciples and honestly- it couldn’t be more clearTake the narrow road- not the wide road. Wide road leads to destruction- difficult is the wayThere’s a video that I’d like to show that encapsulates this idea of the narrow road v the wide road and that difficult is the way.PLEASE PLAY VIDEO Thank you for coming today- that concludes our sermon.
The narrow road
Jesus starts out and says “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction,”The word picture he’s saying here is obvious- there’s a small area in which you will find salvation and if you take the wide area- its destructionWhich gate he was referring to is irrelevant- what is relevant is he is speaking directly about the following of himself as leading to eternal life and salvation- and he says “it’s a narrow road”The video showed this- not biblical- but cool image- only one little hole to go through!Luke 13:24 “Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able.If you asked any random person if they wanted to go to heaven- without clarifying- most would say yes- obviously- who wants hell? Many people will seek to enter- but will not be ableWhy? 1. They don’t believe in Jesus as the only way to heaven. John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.Christianity is an exclusive proposition- its an all or nothing endeavor- (its not being ‘good’)People say Christians are narrow minded people- and we are! Exclusively and demonstrativelyJesus is THE only way – all other ways are wrong this is not A way it is THE wayJohn 10:9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, ONE MEDIATOR- Belief in the blood of Jesus is all that saves from SIN ONLYThese are Jesus words. Islam wont get you to heaven, Buddhism, Sikhism, Taoist, wiccan etc consequently statism or secular humanism wont get you there either. ONLY JESUSJohn 3:3636 He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”Ezekiel 18:27-32 READ The ways of God are not fair- this is God’s historic way- repentance!The Bible give some very clear ways to stay on the narrow road- believe in Jesus live different
2. They trust in themselves-Proverbs 16:25 There is a way that seems right to a man,But its end is the way of death.- This is the real pandemic- people trust they can get themselves to heaven3. They refuse to separate from the world- 2 Cor 6:17 Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.”To be narrow- Separate yourself from wickedness, the ways of the world, desires of the fleshRomans 16:17 watch out for those who cause divisions Titus 3:10 have nothing more to do with him,2 Thes 3:6 keep away from any brother who is wal...
