Remembering Richard Overton, Amos Oz, Mel Hutchins, Honey Lantree
Richard Overton was the oldest surviving American World War II veteran and the oldest man in the United States. His career included stints in Guam and Iwo Jima. Amos Oz was the Israeli writer who wrote several acclaimed works of fiction and non-fiction. He was also a prominent campaigner for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Mel Hutchins was an All-American basketball center at Brigham Young, who led the team to its first national championship at the NIT in 1951. Honey Lantree was one of the first female drummers in rock-and-roll. She played for The Honeycombs, who had an international hit in 1964 with their song, “Have I the Right?”
