The White House has removed the Wall Street Journal from the press pool covering President Trump’s upcoming trip to Scotland, after the outlet published a report alleging Trump once sent a sexually suggestive birthday message to Jeffrey Epstein. Trump has denied the letter’s existence and filed a $10 billion lawsuit against the Journal.
Journal reporter Tarini Parti, who was not involved in the Epstein story, had been set to join the trip but was removed from the manifest. The White House said the Journal’s “fake and defamatory conduct” disqualified it from the small group of outlets granted access aboard Air Force One.
The White House Correspondents’ Association condemned the move, calling it a troubling act of media retaliation that violates the First Amendment. No word yet on whether the Journal will be allowed back in future press pools.
