John 15:16 gives us two adjectives and affirmations that we can apply to our lives. We ARE CHOSEN and we ARE APPOINTED.  Chosen means having been selected as the best of most appropriate.  Appointed means decide on beforehand or designated.  These words shook me and really resonated with who Christ thinks we are to him.
