It's really easy for Christians and churches to make the same error that the Jewish religious leaders made. It's called legalism. Legalism is the attempt to be righteous enough to earn God's acceptance by our own efforts. Legalism is our default setting and it's where our hearts tend to drift if we don't guard against it.
