There was a time when my IG bio said, "I empower women in their 2nd act to live a joyful life on their own terms." ouch...who am I to empower anyone? The definition of "empower" is to give/grant another person the power or authority to do something. Like a boss granting an employee the power to hire someone. Hold on....I don't have that kind of power of anyone's life! So I have been thinking long and hard about the historical meaning behind the word empower and why it is used so often now.
