John 10:11-18
Jesus is the Good Shepherd. And he’s really a shepherd in a class of his own because he does what no reasonable shepherd should do. He willingly lays down his life for his sheep. He values his sheep far higher than any other shepherd does. He knows his sheep far better than any other shepherd does. He loves his sheep far more than any other shepherd does. His love compels him to even lay down his life for us, his sheep.
But our Good Shepherd is also in a class of his own because he has the power to take up his life again, rising from the dead. A shepherd in a class of his own, who dies—and lives for his sheep.
