For many of us the names Jesus, Christ, Messiah, Son of God, and Son of Man are interchangeable. The familiarity with those terms make this interaction between Jesus and Peter feel familiar, uninspired. The Holy Spirit reveals to Peter that Jesus is the Christ and all these years later we might remark… of course he is. Two thousand years ago Peter attributing the title Christ to Jesus was nothing short of a revolution. We invite you today, like Peter, to come to a fuller understanding of what it means to address Jesus as the Christ.
