Luke’s original blue lightsaber was one of the most valuable Jedi Relics in the entire galaxy.
To Luke, it represented one of the few connections that he had to the original Jedi Order. And he wouldn’t gladly part with it.
To the public, it was an extremely rare weapon, owned by General Skywalker during the Clone Wars, and whoever discovered it could sell it on the black market for a large sum to collectors across the galaxy... like Grekko the Hutt.
To the Empire, it was dangerous Jedi contraband, and was to be taken into holding as soon as possible.
