Gopis are the affectionate devotees of Lord Krishna who have mainly three attributes: All their senses aspire to savour Lord only- eyes wish to see Him, tongue and ears like to talk/hear about nothing except Him. Nevertheless they possess complete self-control and do not exhibit their longing for Him. Therefore Gopis may live physically apart from Krishna but their hearts can never be detached from Him as no one can separate dissolved sugar out of the milk.
