Who Is Jesus?

Listen Later

Who is Jesus really, and why do so many people talk about Him?

You may have heard His name your whole life. People talk about Jesus in church, in songs, and even in everyday conversation. But who is He, really?

Some people say He was just a good teacher. Others say He was a prophet. Some say He was just a man who lived long ago.

But the Bible tells us something much bigger.

Jesus is not just a good man.

He is the Son of God.

The Bible says in John chapter 1 verse 1, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Then in verse 14 it says, “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us…”

That means Jesus is God who came into the world as a man.

He stepped into human life so we could understand Him and know Him.

Jesus lived a life no one else has ever lived.

He never sinned.

Not once.

He spoke truth. He showed love. He helped people. He healed the sick. He gave hope to those who felt lost.

But more than what He did, it is who He is that matters most.

Jesus said in John chapter 14 verse 6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

That is a bold statement.

He did not say He was one way.

He said He is the way.

That means if you want to know God, it begins with Jesus.

Jesus did not come just to teach people how to live.

He came to save people.

Because the truth is, we all have sin in our lives.

We have all made wrong choices. We have all fallen short.

And sin separates us from God.

No amount of good works can fix that.

That is why Jesus came.

He came to do what we could not do.

He came to take our place.

Jesus went to the cross and died.

He was not forced. He chose to do it.

He took the punishment for sin—not His own, but ours.

The Bible says in First Timothy chapter 2 verse 5, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”

A mediator is someone who brings two sides together.

Jesus came to bring you back to God.

Then something happened that changed everything.

Three days after He died, Jesus rose again.

He is alive.

That means death was not the end.

That means sin was paid for.

That means there is hope for you.

So why does Jesus matter to you?

Because He is the only one who can forgive your sin.

Because He is the only one who can bring you to God.

Because He is the only one who can give you new life.

This is not just about knowing facts.

This is about making a decision.

You can hear about Jesus and do nothing.

Or you can respond.

If you feel something in your heart right now, that is God calling you.

Jesus is not far away.

He is reaching out to you.

You do not have to wait.

You do not have to fix yourself first.

You can come to Jesus right now.

You can pray this:

Jesus, I know I have sinned. I believe You are the Son of God. I believe You died for me and rose again. Please forgive me. Come into my life and save me. I trust You as my Savior. Amen.

If you just prayed that and meant it, the Bible says in Acts chapter 16 verse 31, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.”

That means you are saved.

Jesus is more than a good man.

He is your Savior.

And today, you can know Him.
