As Jesus' ministry ramps up, John’s disciples question why
the people are going across to Jesus and no longer to John. This is just another example, like the crowds in Jerusalem and Nicodemus, of people who do not understand the coming of the Messiah, the Anointed One, Jesus Christ. John the Baptist immediately rebukes his disciples and reminds them of what he has been saying throughout his entire ministry. That Jesus is the Messiah, that He must increase as John the Baptist decreases and this is something we all must do as we come to know who Jesus is. The Father has handed everything into His hands and He has the Spirit without limit. Truly, Jesus is the King of kings and Lord of lords, yet still in John 3, people do not understand and so they ask, “Who is Jesus?”
