Who Needs an Upgrade?

Please turn in your Bibles to Hebrews 8:1-13

“By calling this covenant “new,” He has made the first one obsolete;

and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.” Hebrews 8:13

The old system was built on what we needed to do for God

The new system is built on what God has done for us

“…there is no one who does good, not even one.” Romans 3:12b

Now the main point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, 2 and who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle set up by the Lord, not by a mere human being. Hebrews 8:1

God’s Upgrade: 4 Benefits

V 10a: God’s Power over Our Effort. God says,

“I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts.

V 10b: Relationship over Fear

I will be their God, and they will be my people.

Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God—13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. John 1:12-13

V 11: Assurance over Uncertainty

11 No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’

because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.

V 12: Tenderness over Failure

For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins

and their iniquities will I remember no more. Hebrews 8:12 KJV
