Canadian author, Dav Pilkey, was an under-achiever at school who preferred to draw cartoons and comic books. His teachers frequently scalded his creativity and artistry, but they were wrong. With a self-referential, comedic writing style and its trademark potty humour, the Captain Underpants franchise, which Pilkey went on to create, became an overwhelming success.

The books were an example of forth wall breaking and the poking fun of conventions of children's fiction that are reflected heavily in Radio Mike's 2007 fan-fiction masterpiece, Harry Potter & The Boys. Why? Well, because, as one clever listener figured out, Mike read these books religiously growing up. So, who the hell is Captain Underpants, anyway?
