At the turn of the 19th century the first celebrity chef, Marie Antoine Careme burst onto the scene from seemingly nowhere and rose all the way to the very top—with bestselling cookbooks and infamous feasts that were all the rage of the ruling class including the likes of Napoleon Bonaparte, czars, kings, and diplomats. He would regularly draw crowds outside the bakery window where people would gather to see his latest creations and left an incredible legacy that influences much of today's cuisine!
