1. Identity in Christ

    •    Believers are a “new creation” in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).

A new creature… still growing, still becoming, still learning.. you are NEW! How many people think that when they get saved everything is supposed to be perfect - Im new… but that does not mean your potential is fulfilled. It just means new. Like I got a new tomato plant… its only 4 inches tall, but its new. 

So how do we grow that new creature… remember Frankenstein… ITS ALIVE. Ok, but how do we keep that new creature, creation alive and growing. 

The obvious: Read your bible, ask for insight, pray, and obey what is says. I could preach every day on that but you get it… now do it! 

But secondly you got to kill the old creature… he is still having on in certain areas. 

    •    The old nature (sinful tendencies) has been crucified, and the believer now has the nature of God within them… so you have the position, just not the maturity yet. That is where you must continue to define your wants, needs, lusts of the flesh etc.. by what scripture says. Not by what you feel. How many of you know feelings lie… uh yea, hello? I am going to work out, eat better, save money, not use my credit card, not yell at my wife or kids, not belittle myself mentally, get a better job, quit biting my nails… it does not matter. Our flesh has lied to us - our feelings have lied to us and we give in and we fall back into that. But if we simply checked with the authority before we went by our feelings? What if we quickly scanned scripture to what it said we do and don’t do.What empowers us and what doesn’t .Then ask God to give us the power to grow into the creature… that new creation. 

Next you gotta quit measuring yourself on the closet door… what do I mean by that. When I was a kid we measured our heights on the inside of the closet door in our kitchen. I wonder if its still there. But I would constantly go and look at those measurements and compare my height to my sisters… fail. 

    •    The believer’s life is defined by their position in Christ, not by their past or external circumstances.

A new creation has no past.. he’s new…

2. Renewed Mind

    •    Transformation happens through the renewal of the mind (Romans 12:2).

    •    Aligning thoughts and actions with God’s Word is critical to living as “The New Man.”

    •    The believer must reject limiting beliefs and affirm their identity in Christ.
