Welcome to Episode Nine with Mike Faulhaber
(Mike’s Dad Stats: Two Boys, Three Girls, ages 15 to 29, two biological and three step children.)
My friendship with Mike has spanned nearly 20 years, beginning with us both joining the same recruiting class for the financial services firm called Northwestern Mutual. The nature of the industry and the role as a financial representative had us in the trenches of cold calling, sales, advisory, business building, constant rejection, and a daily grind that was needed to deliver on the high expectations of clients and supervisors.
It was in that arena, which was at times very rewarding, at times overwhelming, and undoubtedly a formidable experience for us both, that we developed a great friendship. Shared misery and shared visions of profound success will do that to a few young bucks. What I’ve loved about Mike is that nearly every time we see each other or talk on the phone, he has this funny little saying, which he declares with a smile on his face, “Dave Momper, you are my hero!” This is obviously very generous of Mike to say to me, and a playful habit we developed early on, but it dawned on me that it represents exactly who Mike is; Mike is rooting everyone on, and doing so all the time. Mike is an extractor of greatness and potential, and he doesn’t hesitate to showcase what he sees in you so you can see it too. If you are lucky enough to work with him, have him as your financial advisor, or just be acquainted, it comes with the territory that Mike truly thinks you are unstoppable, that you can achieve great heights, and that he has your back in that very pursuit.
You’ll learn in our conversation all the different skill sets, credentials, and the ethos that Mike has obtained over the years to be a champion for his family, for himself, for his clients and for the community around him.
