Who's Child Are You?

Listen Later

Last week, we looked at: Having a True Concern for the Church. Paul gave himself to convert, educate, and encourage the church, and his passion for the things of God is easily recognizable. May we have the zeal that Paul had for the church in our day.

Today, we will see Paul use two women and their two sons, in a somewhat convoluted way, to make his point: Justification only comes by grace alone through faith alone, not by works.

Our message for today is titled: “Who’s Child are You?”

Our points will be:

  1. Historical Background
  2. Divine Meaning
  3. Personal Application
  4. Main Scripture: Galatians 4:21-31

    Supporting Texts: Matthew 5:20, Genesis 16:1-2, Ephesians 4:14, Genesis 21:1-2, Genesis 21:14, Genesis 17:20-21, Philippians 3:20, Hebrews 12:22, Isaiah 54:5, Proverbs 14:12, Matthew 7:21-23

    • Why is knowing Biblical history important?
    • Why does Paul choose Hagar/Ishmael and Sarah/Isaac to use as examples in this portion of his Letter?
    • Is knowing Biblical history enough? Explain.
    • Do you regularly look for takeaways when you read Scripture? Why or why not?
    • How important is the application of our Biblical knowledge in our day-to-day life? Explain.
    • ...more
