Is god knocking on my door or is it the devil? Will I answer it and if I do what will happen?

I had a beautiful and interesting conversation with my sister about her religion and my spiritual journey. We shared each other's perspectives on life and where we are now. 

One of the things I took from the conversation is she kept telling me "It seems like Jesus is knocking on my door. I just need to answer it" but what she didn't realize is I have answered just not in the way she thinks I should.
