Title: “Who’s Responsible for the Baby’s Gender… and for Twins?”

In this episode, we break down two of the most common — and misunderstood — questions around pregnancy:

Who determines the baby’s sex?
👉🏽 Answer: The man.
The woman’s egg always carries an X chromosome, while the man’s sperm carries either an X or a Y.

  • If the sperm has an X → it’s a girl (XX).
  • If the sperm has a Y → it’s a boy (XY).
So, the father’s sperm decides the baby’s sex, not the mother.

Who’s responsible for twins?
That depends on the type of twins:

  • Identical twins (monozygotic) happen randomly — one fertilized egg splits into two. No one causes it.
  • Fraternal twins (dizygotic) occur when the woman releases two eggs during ovulation. This can be hereditary on the mother’s side. So, fraternal twins often run in the family — but it’s all on the mother’s body, not the father’s.

💡 Final takeaway:

  • Men determine the sex of the baby.
  • Women’s bodies are responsible for fraternal twins, and identical twins are nature’s surprise.
